Hi everybody,
I was just reading catch-22 and came upon this quote:
“Appleby was a fair-haired boy from Iowa who believed in God, Motherhood and the American Way of Life, without ever thinking about any of them, and everybody who knew him liked him.”
My question is did appleby never think about motherhood, american way of life, etc. [...]

Anne of Green Gables, Heide, Pippi Longstocking, etc etc. I still consider these my favorites.
To be fair, in my childhood I was constantly surrounded by women and had fewer men in my family.
