I want to buy a digital reader, but i want to know which one is better and if there are academic digital books. I appreciated your help and thanks for answer.

I’m looking for something that is not scary (I like suspense like Dan Brown but not scary like Stephen King), nothing disturbing (torturing little children), and nothing too depressing.
I also enjoy romance to be mixed in, but it’s not necessary. I do not like when the main romance involves lies/affairs/etc. though.
Got any recommendations?
