Heresy is the act of pushing theological falsehood as truth. Brown, Gandalf, Hanks et al have not asserted that either the book or the film are anything but fiction.
So, no, this is not heresy.
Blasphemy — now that might apply here.
Did you see on the Today Show when Ian McKellen said that he often thought that the Bible should come with a warning of fiction on it (when questioned by Matt Lauer whether or not “The Da Vinci Code” should come with a fiction warning on it)? That was neat.
Wouldn’t it be amazing to have a time machine so you could go back to the 14th century when your ideas about religion would be consistent with the mainstream?
There is nothing wrong with the Da Vinci Code, Satan didn’t make anyone do anything, you are overreacting to a work of fiction, just like the rest of the world. And stop hatin on Tom Hanks that guy rocks!

These people are in the money making business. They couldn’t care less if this was true or not. They will make millions off of this movie. When asked “What would Jesus do about this movie” the head of the world council of Churches said, “Jesus and the 12 disciples would pop some popcorn, watch the movie, and make fun of all in inaccuracies.” I love the attitude. It is fiction, pure and simple.

It is the best publicity that Christianity has had in many years. It is a chance for the bible to prove itself by standing up to criticism.
Fine, the DaVinci code is not true but it has got people thinking. It is up to people to make up their own minds. If that is blasphemy than so be it.
Free will is free will. If they choose to challenge the issue then I guess, going by the book that they are blasphemers

I’m pretty sure that no matter what the content, God doesn’t want the truth covered up. So, if the Davinci code is real, then it is actually the pope who is a blasphemer. (Now I know I’m going to H e ll! lol).

there is nothing wrog with the davinci code. people have a problem with it because they see their religion as pure or perfect or untouchable…just like my mom & aunts see my grandma.
religion isnt untouchable. this is a STORY! nothing more.
if youre that pissed about it then i reccomend reading NO literaure regarding religion excluding the bible. if you do read such literature then you have nothing to complain about. if anything i think it makes the christian.catholic religion more interesting…and im an atheist.
