Trip To The Fair By Renaissance – Book?
I heard that this song was based on a book – can anybody tell me the author or title? Anything at all would be much appreciated. x

LJ K: “Trip to the Fair” was recorded 10 years before Doctorow published his book.
The band has a very detailed website. I’ve searched it but can’t see any reference to a source for that song.
Here are the lyrics, in case they remind anyone of anything.

Putting ‘Trip to the Fair’ in Amazon’s search box (bcause they have hundreds of thousands of titles) did not turn up a book with this title that I saw, which it would have done so right away, as far as experience there tells me. It did say those words are somewhere on or in 1,206 books there.
Just looking at the first twelve, I chose ‘World Fair’ by E.L. Doctorow, about a boy and his family in the 1930s, and the New York World Fair (they lived in NYC), because the other titles also mention a local world fair, and because Doctorow is a good author.
Without knowing the song, that’s as close as I wander. You might want to follow the Amazon link and put that phrase in for more titles, or a phrase that may more easily identify a possible book for you.
Good luck and happy hunting.
